The Inbetweeners US Version
Now, we normally don’t do television here at Indition. But this has to be said. This looks absolutely terrible. The UK (real!) version of The Inbetweeners was one of the best comedies in recent years, spanning 3 series and a movie. It offered the most accurate insight to the average UK teen during sixth form, really being the most realistic, yet funny, insights into the teenage mind.
And now the US has hold of our beloved characters of Will, Jay, Simon and Neil. I thought that surely they wouldn’t ruin them too badly, the script should practically be identical. But no. None of the characters seem to actively reflect each of the personality traits that they should have, the script has been altered to get rid of the typical British slang that creates half of the humour of the show, especially in Jay’s case.
Actors Bubba Lewis (Simon), Joey Pollari (Will), Mark L Young (Neil), and Zack Pearlman (Jay) will never portray their characters as well as Joe Thomas, Simon Bird, Blake Harrison and James Buckley did. And according to the like to dislike ratio on the YouTube video everyone is in agreement with me.
If you haven’t seen it yet, the abomination is below. And we’re meant to trust them with the best British comedy ever: Only Fools and Horses?
