Kerbal Space Program – Review

Admit it. You once thought it would be awesome to be an astronaut. Going up and just chilling on the moon. And then you got put off by the work that was involved to get to that stage. However, there is an alternative, and it isn’t a costly trip with Virgin Galactic. No, you can now get involved in space travel and engineering from the comfort of your PC with Kerbal Space Program!

KSP is amazingly fun once you get into it properly. It all begins with you designing your transport vessel in the Vehicle Assembly Building. However, you can’t just go an make a crazy looking mega spaceship. There’s is a realistic physics engine that you have to work with, so streamlining, balance and fuel are all important factors when building your spacecraft. Otherwise you will be faced with the feeling of guilt as your creation explodes upon launch and your small green Kerbalnauts die a traumatic death.

If you do make it off launch pad, you will have to break out of the planet’s atmosphere, which requires a lot of fuel and a good craft. There will also be many small real-time corrections you will have to make during your flight, as to survive and perhaps make it to Kerbal’s moon -”Mun” and back. Just don’t forget to bring enough fuel.

I would highly recommend this game. Its an immersive mix of flight-sim, vehicle design and trial and error, which will have you addicted yet frustrated very quickly! Below is what happened to me way too many times. Note the K.I.A in the bottom left…
