If I were less educated in the realms of gaming I would be fooled into thinking that this was an advert for an upcoming episode of South Park. The animation, absurd storyline and humour are a perfect match to the series. The Obsidian game is essentially a mash up of Final Fantasy and the South Park characters that most are familiar with. South Park: The Stick of Truth is due for release next year, in competition with many big releases such as Elder Scrolls Online, GTA V and Bioshock Infinite – the question is: how good will it be in comparison?

Reboots seem to be in fashion at the moment. No franchise is left unturned; particularly in the realm of comic book movies. Perhaps rightly so, seeing the success that the Batman and Spider-man reboots have seen. The next in this line of comic remakes appears to be the Marvel property Fantastic Four. This is not new news however, as the reboot has been pushed back to 6th March 2015, with 20th Century Fox extending their lease.

The reboot will be directed by Josh Trank, who has seen recent success with Chronicle. He will work from a screenplay written by Jeremy Slater and Michael Green. The finer details that Marvel fans may be interested in (such as whether the film will include an origin story or begin with the team already in existence) are currently unknown.

Other 20th Century Fox successes include the X-Men franchise, with spin-offs currently in the works; X-Men: Days of Future Past scheduled for release in 2013, and Hugh Jackman returns as The Wolverine, due to hit the big screen on 26th July 2013.

The console will be available to purchase in three different package options: Premium, Basic and an exclusive ZombiU variation. The premium package will include the 32Gb black console, gamepad and the Pro Controller, and either the Nintendoland game, or ZombieU – depending if you purchase the regular premium pack at £299, or exclusive ZombiU pack for £330. Of course, for those on a tighter budget there is still the regular package, which offers the white 8Gb console for £248, but lacks any additional software.

There are also 24 confirmed games that will launch for the Wii U on release day, these are: Assassin’s Creed III, Batman: Arkham City Armoured Edition, Ben 10: Omniverse, Call of Duty: Black Ops II, Darksiders 2, EA Sports FIFA 13, Disney’s Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two, Family Party: 30 Great Games – Obstacle Arcade, Funky Barn, Game Party Champions, Just Dance 4, Mass Effect 3 Special Edition, New Super Mario Bros U, Nintendo Land, Rabbids Land, Skylanders Giants, Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed, Sports Connection, Tank! Tank! Tank!, Tekken Tag Tournament 2 Wii U Edition, Transformers Prime, Warriors Orochi Hyper, Your Shape: Fitness Evolved 2013 and of course ZombiU. This list does not include any of the items that will be available to download from the Nintendo eStore.

As you can see from this lengthy list, a lot of the titles that sell well on consoles such as the PS3 or Xbox 360 have received the Wii U treatment, however the question remains whether the games will function as well on this new format, or will they flop, just as many Nintendo Wii games did throughout the last few years?

Jimi Hendrix – Rolling Stone Magazine

More than 42 years after his death, a new Jimi Hendrix album consisting of 12 previously unreleased songs, is set to be coming our way on 5th March 2013 (US. UK date not yet set). The album, titled People, Hell and Angels, is said to follow Hendrix in 1968 and 1969 as he works on separate material to the Jimmy Hendrix Experience and explores new, experimental directions involving horns, keyboards, percussion and a second guitar. His website also suggests that he explored ‘fresh diversions from his legendary guitar work’.

As we wait for the album release, we are to be gifted with the cinema release of the Hendrix performance at the 1969 Woodstock Festival, scheduled for release on 29th November. The feature is to celebrate what would be the musicians 70th birthday and includes performances of Voodoo Child, Fire, Purple Haze and a rendition of Star Spangled Banner.

Cop movies tend to focus on the extreme side of the law, that is, the dangerous side – with the gun fights, high speed pursuits and other high adrenaline events. This is true of David Ayer’s(writer and director) End of Watch. However, a unique balance is found within the film that adds to the realism and allows the audience to connect with the main characters, Brian Taylor and Mike Zavala (played by Jake Gylennhaal and Michael Peña respectfully), far more. This balance is found by blending in the everyday routine tasks a police force carries out on a day to day basis, from routine house calls to the paperwork and pranks back in the office.

Another interesting blend is found within the cinematography. The Director has chosen to mix together traditional camera angles with “found-footage” style shots, incorporating these into the story by stating that Taylor is recording for a college project. This interesting mix of style works extremely well in the high intensity scenes in which the Officer’s guns are drawn and the audience are invited into a camera angle reminiscent of a first person shooter game. This really allows the emotions of the characters to be conveyed to the audience, which adds to the deep emotional impact the film has upon viewers. Emotions play a vital role in the movie’s success. End of Watch offers a true sense of realism, and depicts the uncertainty of the outcomes an officer may encounter from a call whilst on the beat.

Adding to the emotional side of the film, there is the inclusion of the officer’s significant others, Janet and Gabby (Anna Kendrick and Natalie Martinez respectfully), touching upon what it means to have children and being married to someone that works in a dangerous job, enforcing the law, for a living. However, I will say that this element of the movie is left open for the audience to think about, and is explored far less that it could have been within the movie.

This is possibly due to the high adrenaline action scenes that break up, and yet reinforce, the emotional and moral questions raised throughout the story.  The main “bad guys” that the two Officers come across are a gang that belong to one of the big Mexican Cartels, and being the thrill-seekers that they, are drawn into a downward spiral that makes them a key target for assassination - allowing the cartels drug and human trafficking trade to continue.

If there was one criticism I would have to make of this film, it would be of how unexplored and undeveloped the Cartel Gang is within the story. There was a lot of potential here, instead they seem to just inexplicably roll around the streets of LA in a people carrier, armed with AK-47s and swear a lot.

This leads me to conclude with the thought that this movie was not designed to be primarily an action film. Instead, it is one of character development and study, truly drawing the audience in with the realism and found footage scenes. Even the scenes where the two are on patrol and just talking nonsense are littered with questions that the audience must answer – how would you feel to be in each character’s situation at this point in the movie? This film is definitely worth the money to go and see, or buy on DVD if you’re one of the lucky North Americans that have had this movie available to them for months. Us here in the UK can see this great movie on the 23rd November in cinemas nationwide.

Megan James (Vocals) and Corin Roddick (Instrumentals) were part of a much larger band named Born Gold (previously named Gobble Gobble). During their time on tour with Gobble Gobble, Roddick started experimenting with electronic production and beat-making, and eventually asked James to sing on his newly-written track Ungirthed, thus creating the band. The band formed in 2010 and two years later, they signed with the record company 4AD worldwide and Last Gang Records in Canada. 

The music Purity Ring have produced in their debut album Shrines involves very dark electronic synths, automated in such a way that wouldn’t sound out of place on a conventional dubstep track, mixed with the famous southern hip-hop 808 snare patterns to urbanise the aesthetics with brilliance.  We haven’t even mentioned Megan James’ angelic-toned vocals yet, these vocals are the cherry on top of an already unique masterpiece of an album.

Sony pictures has declared that it is in production of the showcase and that TriStar Pictures will release it on August 30 2013.

This type of format is nothing new, the twist however is that the famous documentarian, Morgan Spurlock, has taken the role of director/producer. For those of you not familiar with his work, he’s the belly and mind behind the acclaimed documentary, Super Size Me. The Maccy D’s gobbler will shadow the X Factor finalists around, capturing the band’s journey.

Spurlock released: “This is an incredible opportunity and an amazing moment in time for the band. To capture this journey and share it with audiences around the world will be an epic undertaking that I am proud to be a part of.”

The film is bound to have a love hate factor about it, with 1D fans going mental for them and others sick of this money making marketing scheme to promote bands.

“I’m delighted we’re making this film and Morgan is the perfect person to give that access-all-areas, behind-the-scenes look into what it’s like to be One Direction today. What the band have achieved is incredible, they and their fans have made history around the world – this is for them.” – Said Simon Cowell.

One Direction have also been asked to perform for President Barack Obama as well as the First Family at the White House.

This new feature combines every post, photo and event you’ve ever shared in one nauseating page for everyone you know to cringe over. Now you are able to look back at fond memories during your relationship or be repulsed after an unpleasant break up. But don’t worry yourself singles, the friendship pages which have been around for two years now are due an update with an equally suffocating page between you and your mates.

As the latest news and the change becomes viral, web users are coming out with mixed feelings. While some love the idea and thinks its cute, others find it invasive, impersonal and damn right creepy, with some even considering terminating their relationships on Facebook in order to keep them private.
